India-Norway joint team carried out glaciological fieldwork to characterize two ice rises in central DML coast near India’s Maitri Station.
India, UK and Norway aim to drill an ice core of about 500 m deep to the bed to retrieve information of carbon dioxide (CO2), sea ice, and westerly wind in the past 10,000 years. The two ice rises we investigated are candidates for this drilling and our fieldwork in this season is to locate the core site.
